Mad Max Spoiler Ahead!
You know one thing I actually loved? Is that there is one scene where Max clearly beats the shit out of someone and it’s an epic fight that would have looked and been great as he went to fetch more supplies. But you don’t see it happen. You just see him leave and then see him return, covered in blood. And to me, that is the moment where George Miller is telling the audience that this is Furiosa’s movie. Because you stay with her as she waits. The events unfold from her dialogue (”it’s not his blood”) and it reinforces the audience’s connection with her over Max.
I’m sure it’s scenes like that that have got the MRAs all up in arms, because they didn’t get to see Max at his most testosterony (it’s a word). And it’s precisely scenes like that why I loved it so much. It circumvented expectations in the best ways. You got to see Furiosa and all the ladies being total badasses and you got to see Max being a badass too, but only when he was with them. Because that’s only when it was important to the story. To Furiosa’s story.
STILL crying about the part where Max was trying to make a long distance shot and missed the first two, hung his head and let Furiosa do it. But NOTHING in that scene was unkind, like, they’re two grown ass human beings and Furiosa is better than him at it. That’s it. It wasn’t made into a joke, and because of it it became a reall sweet moment, like it’s ok baby, we all got our strengths.
She uses his shoulder to stabilize her gun too I just can’t deal with this movie I need to see it again
